I couldn’t agree more, although I would add that SEO skills are specific to digital media copywriters — those of us who work with web content, whereas traditional or print copywriters may not need SEO skills. However, having those skills can only benefit a copywriter by adding value to his or her service offerings!

Comprehensive post! Thanks for the nice work.
One point that I’ve noticed is that some copywriters create great content, but don’t optimize it the way it deserves. On the other hand, some optimize their content without following website copywriting rules and techniques.
The best and most successful copywriter will be the one that can bring targeted website traffic to the site and causes human readers to appreciate the content and behave the way the copy has planned to.

“…keyword-driven rather than customer-oriented.” I like that!

It’s important to aim for keyword PHRASES rather than just solo words. Not only are single words harder to rank for, Google is now placing more value on content that is optimized for longer phrases and related phrases.

Thanks for the heads up. A SEO copywriter level the competition within the search engines, introduces products in favorable tones, and increases the chance of success in an online environment.
